About Build It Green
Build It Green is a construction management and building company specializing in green building techniques for small to medium sized residential and commercial new construction projects and major renovations.
Our Mission
“Our mission at Build It Green is to make green building projects easy for homeowners, developers and real estate investors.”
We strive to accomplish this mission by doing the following:
- Investing heavily in training and certifications on the most up to date green building methods and standards in the world.
- Developing systems to reduce the costs of documenting green certifications such as LEED that may be charged by other members of your development team.
- Continually developing the most cost effective techniques and systems for building energy efficient and sustainable buildings.
- Developing partnerships with high quality subcontractors and consultants in the field of green building that will add significant value to our projects.
- Testing out new green building techniques, materials and products in our own developments.
- Getting involved in the entire development process with out clients from land acquisition to the sale or lease of the final product.
Key Differentiators from Other Builders
- We have expertise, contacts and product knowledge in green building that can eliminate the premiums associated with green buildings and their certification.
- We work out of an office, not a truck, and have our own warehouse.
- We do not artificially bid low to get projects only to make up our costs later during the project with price increases.
- We will give a guaranteed cost cap on qualified projects that we will not exceed.
- We have proven development, RE marketing and branding expertise to help you maximize profits and get the most building for the construction dollar.
Officers
Scott Yohe - President, Green Estimator and Project Management
Scott founded Build it Green after many years in the commercial and residential construction market. After incorporating several green building products and methods in the normal course of building, he repeatedly stated to his clients that these suggestions would make for a more marketable property, or be more economical to operate, would be better for the environment or just made plain good sense to integrate these new products or methods. He also found more often than not, these practices did not add significant costs to the project when properly specified and introduced early in the planning stages. When his construction company was asked to build two very affordable “LEED-certified Green Projects” he excitedly joined the team and at the same time embarked on providing this type of green construction to the average person looking to Build or Buy Green in the Philadelphia market.
As co-owner of Level 5 Construction, Scott fills the role as Project Manager, Chief Estimator and Director of Operations. Level 5 Construction is a full service construction company serving commercial and residential clients primarily in the Philadelphia marketplace. With the various partners they have aligned with over the years, they are able to assist in every phase of construction including budget pricing, architectural design, zoning and plan approval, permit processes, demolition, inspections, build-out, marketing and sale of the property.
Scott also has LEED training for new construction and major renovations and is certified by MHTI (Modular Housing Training Institute) to set and finish modular housing. Over the years, Scott has had experience as a project manager, estimator, purchaser, superintendent, sales & marketing and has hands-on field experience in almost every trade.
Chad Ludeman - Vice President, Green Research, Development & Marketing
Chad Ludeman comes to Build It Green with experience in a variety of fields. With a degree in Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Chad went on to gain experience in manufacturing engineering, project management, purchasing, production management and product marketing. Prior to entering into business for himself, Chad was the Marketing Manager for a small software company in South Jersey.
In addition to his role at Build It Green, Chad is also the President of Postgreen - a real estate development company focusing on modern, green and affordable development in Philadelphia. Chad also assists with marketing for the Stokes Group - a top real estate sales team in Center City Philadelphia.
Chad brings a wealth of green and sustainable building and real estate development knowledge to Build It Green. His company, Postgreen, is developing two of the first LEED Platinum homes in Pennsylvania and is aiming to have them be certified as the most affordably built LEED Platinum homes ever built.
Donna Yohe - Administration and Operations
After over 10 years in the construction business for various companies, Donna founded CanViss Industries Inc, a certified WBE (Woman Business Enterprise) firm selling specialty building products and passive fire protection materials. Later she co-founded Level 5 Construction, a full service construction company serving commercial and residential clients primarily in the Philadelphia marketplace. She actively markets the company and the many services they offer to potential clients. She also enjoys helping clients with design and finish choices as well.
Donna formerly was a construction specialist with a multi-national tool company, sold print and radio advertising and served in the hospitality industry. With a degree in Business from Drexel University and courses in Construction Management from Temple University, Donna plans to use her extensive marketing, sales and construction management experience to help launch Build it Green as the premier Green Custom Builder in Philadelphia. Her main focus will be communicating how the green solutions the team assembles will benefit the clients and its end-users. Another goal is making green more mainstream and more available to the residents of Philadelphia.
